In my senior studio project at RISD, I set out to build a toolkit of participatory design tools to help designers facilitate user engagement in their design processes. I developed and tested my tools by partnering with other members of the Industrial Design senior class. As a collaborator, I tailored my design tools to help my classmates get user participation in their projects, while simultaneously refining a toolkit of my own. This process resulted in a card-based toolkit consisting of 8 tools for opening, discovery, and brainstorming, as well as tips on how to prepare the engagement process.
